Rubondo Island National Park Safari

Your adventure begins in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Kigoma and transfer to the departure point on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. After meeting your guide and receiving a briefing, you will board a boat for a scenic journey across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe National Park. The boat journey offers beautiful views of the lake, surrounding mountains and coastline before arriving at the park.

Upon arrival at Gombe, you will complete the necessary registration procedures before meeting your park ranger and beginning your first chimpanzee trekking experience. The trek takes you through the lush tropical forest in search of habituated chimpanzee communities. Your ranger will follow signs such as footprints, feeding remains, calls and other evidence to locate the chimpanzees.

Once you find the chimpanzees, you will have an opportunity to observe them as they move through the forest, feed, communicate, play and interact with one another. The exact trekking duration varies depending on where the chimpanzees are located and how far they move during the day. You may also encounter other primates, colorful birds, butterflies and different species of forest vegetation during the walk.

After the trek, return to your accommodation for check-in and relaxation. Depending on the time and conditions, you may have free time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Lake Tanganyika, relax at the lodge or take a short walk along the lakeshore. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your selected accommodation in or around Gombe.
