Your tour begins in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Stone Town and a scenic drive through the countryside of Zanzibar toward Jozani Forest. The journey takes approximately 40–60 minutes depending on traffic and your exact pickup location.
Upon arrival, you will meet your local guide and begin a guided walk through the forest. The trail takes you through the natural forest environment where you can learn about indigenous trees, plants and the ecology of Jozani. The main highlight is the opportunity to observe the famous Zanzibar red colobus monkeys in their natural habitat. You may also encounter other wildlife such as Sykes' monkeys, bushbabies, duikers, butterflies and numerous bird species.
After exploring the forest, continue to the mangrove boardwalk, where you will walk through the mangrove ecosystem and learn about its importance to Zanzibar's environment and coastal areas. The boardwalk provides a different perspective of the park, with opportunities to see mangrove vegetation, birds and other small wildlife.
After completing the Jozani experience, you will begin the return journey to Stone Town. You will be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of your memorable Zanzibar forest adventure. The main Jozani experience normally takes around 2–3 hours, while the complete excursion from Stone Town can take approximately half a day depending on transport and activities.
