Kigoma to Gombe
Your adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Kigoma and transfer to Kibirizi Beach, where you will meet your boat and begin a scenic journey across Lake Tanganyika toward Gombe National Park. The boat journey itself is part of the experience, offering beautiful views of the lake, surrounding mountains and the natural landscape along the shoreline. Upon arrival at Gombe National Park, you will complete the necessary registration procedures and receive a briefing from the park ranger before beginning your chimpanzee trekking adventure.
After the briefing, you will enter the beautiful forest of Gombe accompanied by an experienced ranger guide. The trekking experience takes you through the park's natural forest, following trails and listening for signs of chimpanzee activity. The exact walking distance and duration can vary depending on the location of the chimpanzee family on that day. During the trek, you may also see different species of monkeys, colourful birds, butterflies and other small wildlife while enjoying the peaceful sounds of the forest.
The main highlight of the day is the opportunity to locate and observe wild chimpanzees in their natural environment. Once the chimpanzees are found, you will have the opportunity to watch them as they move through the forest, feed, rest, play and interact with one another, while following the instructions and regulations provided by your ranger guide. Observing these remarkable primates in the wild is a truly special experience and creates unforgettable memories for wildlife and nature lovers.
After the chimpanzee trekking experience, you will enjoy a packed picnic lunch at a suitable designated area within or near the park, depending on the day's program and park arrangements. After lunch, there will be time to relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings of Gombe National Park and Lake Tanganyika. Depending on the available time and park conditions, you may also enjoy a short nature walk or visit selected scenic areas before returning to the boat.
In the afternoon, you will board your boat and begin the scenic journey back across Lake Tanganyika to Kigoma. Relax and enjoy the views of the lake and surrounding landscapes as you travel back to the mainland. Upon arrival at Kibirizi Beach, your driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Kigoma, marking the end of your memorable one-day Gombe National Park safari.
